The Coven was est. in January 2021 by co-owners Alison Alexander and Penelope Clark. In April 2022 they opened their space to friend and stylist Megan Smith completing The Coven.
Located in the heart of Oak Bay the girls at Coven specialize in all your hair care needs from haircutting, colouring, extensions, bridal hair and makeup. Coven collective is an inclusive salon dedicated to creating a safe space for all.
Penelope started her journey into hair at Vancouver Hair Academy in 2015 and quickly fell in love with lived in Blonding and extensions.
In 2018 Penelope dove head first into the world of extensions and has been specializing in invisible weft methods and Keratin Bond extensions since.
Penelope is dedicated to becoming a master of her craft and is proud to consistently continue her education as extensions evolve.
There is no one size fits all when it comes to extensions, Penelope thrives on knowing how to customize them exactly to your needs.
When she isn’t in the salon you might catch her out walking her two dogs; training for an upcoming cycling race, lifting weights or tanning whenever the sun is out!
Alison is a multidisciplinary artist, and you’ll really see those influences when you work with her. Since 2012, Ali has built her reputation as a creative cut and colourist, and Makeup artist. She is a regional educator for ASP Hair America, and is passionate about sharing her skills and knowledge.
In salon, Alison specializes in bespoke cutting and colouring techniques.
She believes there is no one size fits all recipe when it comes to designing hair; Ali works hard to understand her clients hair and personality to create unique and effortless results.
In addition to hairstyling services Alison also offers makeup classes, bridal and event makeup services, and virtual/ in-salon education for ASP.
Outside of the salon you can catch her dancing and teaching class at House of Pole here in Victoria, as well as educating as a model and Posing Coach. She really does it all!
Megan is an island girl born and raised. She grew up in Qualicum beach and moved to Victoria with her high school sweetheart Morgan in 2013.
Graduating from the Aveda institute in 2014 she started her hair journey! Throughout the last 12 years Megan developed a passion for hair colouring, men’s styling and bridal hair. She’s been featured in Rocky Mountain bride and has a large portfolio of her work over the last several years providing bridal services to Vancouver island.
In 2022 she took the leap into entrepreneurship joining her best friends Penelope & Alison at the Coven and as of 2026 she’s officially a co-owner.
Outside of the salon you’ll likely catch Megan with her nose in a fantasy book, doing Pilates, sipping cocktails with her friends, or spending time with her fiance and two cats.

Services
Coven collective specializes in a multitude of different services. Each stylist has focused on continued education to hone their craft. The Coven offers everything from haircutting, blonding, creative and corrective colours, bridal hair, makeup and extensions. For a full list of services, please head over to our booking site and select your preferred stylist, pricing is different based on each stylist.
For an accurate quote we recommend booking a consultation. For new extension clients and corrective colours, consultations are mandatory you will be prompted upon booking to find a time that works for you. Consultations are complimentary! We look forward to meeting you!
